The administration of Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has recorded notable milestones in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, security, urban renewal and economic transformation since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

Operating under the development philosophy of “Tomorrow Is Here,” Governor Mbah has pursued an ambitious agenda aimed at repositioning Enugu State as a major destination for investment, business, tourism and innovation.

Infrastructure Development and Road Construction
Road infrastructure has been a major focus of the Mbah administration. According to the Enugu State Government’s September 2026 report, the administration’s record includes more than 1,521 kilometres of constructed and reconstructed roads.

Several strategic road projects are also advancing across the state, improving connectivity between communities and supporting commercial activities. Among them are the Owo–Ikem dual carriageway and the Amaechi–Idodo–Amagunze Road.

The government has also embarked on the development of the New Enugu City, an ambitious urban project designed to expand the state’s urban landscape, attract investment and create new opportunities for residents.

Education:
Investment in Smart Schools
Education remains another major pillar of the administration’s development agenda. The government has embarked on the construction of modern Smart Green Schools across the state’s 260 electoral wards, with the objective of improving access to quality education and integrating technology into teaching and learning. The initiative is designed to provide pupils with improved learning environments and prepare young people for the demands of a technology-driven economy.

The administration has also prioritised technical and vocational education, including investments in facilities intended to equip young people with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

Healthcare Transformation
In healthcare, the Mbah administration has pursued the establishment and upgrading of primary healthcare facilities across the state.
The government’s development record includes 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, alongside investments in major healthcare infrastructure.

The Enugu International Hospital is among the administration’s flagship projects, with the facility intended to strengthen specialist healthcare delivery, reduce the need for residents to travel outside the state for certain treatments, and position Enugu as a healthcare destination. The ongoing remodelling and upgrading of Parklane Hospital is another component of efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure.

Security and Public Safety
Security has also featured prominently in the administration’s policies. The government has invested in technology-driven security operations, including a Command and Control Centre supported by surveillance systems and patrol vehicles equipped with AI-enabled cameras. These investments are intended to strengthen crime prevention, improve surveillance and support faster responses to security incidents across the state.

The security architecture forms part of the government’s broader strategy to create a safer environment for residents, businesses, investors and visitors.

Urban Renewal, Tourism and Economic Development
Beyond roads, schools and hospitals, the administration has pursued projects aimed at reviving public assets, improving tourism infrastructure and stimulating economic activity.
Among the notable initiatives are the revitalisation of Hotel Presidential, the development of the New Enugu City and investments in tourism facilities, including the Ngwo Pines tourism complex.

The administration has also introduced fiscal and institutional reforms involving revenue automation, public financial management and digital governance.

Governor Mbah has consistently stated his ambition to grow Enugu State’s economy from an estimated $4.4 billion to $30 billion, with the broader objective of expanding economic opportunities, attracting investment and reducing poverty.

The Nigerian Guild of Editors, following a tour of selected projects in September 2026, publicly acknowledged the scale of infrastructure development taking place in the state.

Acknowledging Leadership and Development
While the administration’s projects and programmes continue to attract public attention, their long-term impact will also depend on effective implementation, maintenance, accountability and the extent to which residents across all 17 local government areas benefit from them.

Nevertheless, the breadth of ongoing initiatives reflects the government’s stated commitment to infrastructure expansion, human capital development, public safety and economic transformation.

As Enugu State looks towards the 2027 general elections, the governor’s record in office is likely to remain an important subject of public discussion, with citizens assessing both the achievements recorded and the work that remains to be done.

Target Multimedia Recognises Governor Mbah’s Achievements
In recognition of the development initiatives undertaken by the Enugu State Government, Target Multimedia, the organisers of the New Face of Miss Enugu (NFME) 2026, acknowledges Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s achievements in office, particularly in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, security and economic transformation.

The organisation recognises the importance of sustained leadership, youth development and an enabling environment in building a prosperous state. Through the New Face of Miss Enugu 2026 initiative, Target Multimedia also seeks to celebrate young women, promote talent and hard work, and contribute to the development and positive image of Enugu State.

Target Multimedia therefore expresses its support for Governor Peter Mbah’s re-election bid in 2027, citing its recognition of his administration’s development efforts and its belief in the importance of continuity in pursuing the state’s development agenda.

The organisation maintains that a thriving Enugu State requires continued investment in infrastructure, human capital, security, innovation and opportunities for young people to contribute meaningfully to the state’s future.
