The American financial market ended October under significant pressure, with technology stocks experiencing their sharpest monthly decline in more than a year.

The Nasdaq Composite, which tracks many of the world’s biggest technology companies, reportedly lost approximately 5.2 per cent during October. This represents its worst monthly performance since March 2025.

The S&P 500 also declined by approximately 1.2 per cent during the month, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average managed to record a monthly gain of about 1.5 per cent.
Friday’s trading session added to investor concerns. The Dow fell 572 points, while the Nasdaq dropped approximately 2.5 per cent.

The downturn comes amid growing uncertainty surrounding technology valuations, artificial intelligence investments and the financial exposure of major companies to the rapidly changing technology market.

Investor sentiment has also been affected by reports of a major cryptocurrency security breach involving approximately $6.3 billion, adding pressure to an already unsettled financial environment.

The technology sector has attracted enormous investment over the past few years, particularly because of the global expansion of artificial intelligence. However, the latest market performance suggests that investors are becoming more cautious about valuations and the risks associated with rapid technological expansion.

What this means: Investors, technology entrepreneurs and financial analysts will be watching November’s trading sessions closely for signs of recovery or further market weakness.
